Many times we need to extract a portion of a video. It can
be a song or a comedy scene from a movie or any important scene from a video.
There a many video cutter software’s are available to do this task. But if you
don’t want to install any software to do this task then you can do it from vlc
media player. Here are the steps to extract a portion of a video.
1.
Click on the view menu located in the upper side
of the window.

Go to advanced control option and click it.
Advanced controls will be added to the upper side of the general control
buttons.(advanced controls can be added by right clicking on the video
display.right click on the video display.a context menu will appear.in the
context menu goto view menu.a submenu will open.in the submenu click advanced
control menu)
3.
Now click record button (the button on which a
red circle is drawn) to start the job of extraction.
4.
The extraction will go on till you again click
on the record button. After clicking record button again the video extracted
from the main video will be saved in your video folder or other folder according to your setting.
